Life Path 4 is the number of foundation.
The old charts put the 4 at the centre of the Physical plane and drew it as a square, the shape everything practical is built on. It is the number of structure, the discipline that turns effort into something that lasts.
A 4 is reliable in a way that gets noticed slowly. It prefers practice to theory and finishes what other people abandon. The tradition warns that too much weight on the material can crowd out the inner life, so the mental and the spiritual go untended.
The shadow is rigidity. Structure that starts as a frame can harden into a wall, load-bearing and unwilling to let the builder through. The old writers put it gently. A 4 learns to leave a door in the structure for itself.
How Life Path 4 is calculated
A birth date summing to 13, 22, 31, or 40 reduces to 4. (A date summing to 22 is held as the master 22 rather than reduced to 4, the key fork every calculator handles differently.)
