Reading the 1
The 1 is where everything on the chart begins, and it carries the weight of going first.
It stands at the entrance of the Physical Plane, the only absolute number, the one that every other number contains. After Phillips, this is the foundation of the personality: the place where the self either gets expressed or gets swallowed. A single 1 often means the words come out at an angle to what was felt inside, not an inability to speak, but a gap between the feeling and the sentence. Nothing else on the chart can speak until this one does.
The practical work, then, is learning to say what you actually mean. There is real courage in the 1, the willingness to step forward before anyone gives permission, and there is a loneliness that comes with being the one who goes first. The two travel together and always have.
